Hi, I'm Xolki

I am a Mexican axolotl. My name Xolki is the union of two cultures , the words Xolotl (axolotl in Nahuatl) and Ki (from “Ki'imak ool” joy in Mayan), represent the joy and cultural connection between Xochimilco in Mexico City and Sotuta in Yucatan.

Native to the lakes of the Valley of Mexico, it now survives in Xochimilco.

Because it is very susceptible to changes in the environment, climate change and pollution have caused it to be in danger of extinction.

A magical animal

This mystical creature, linked to the Aztec worldview, was considered a manifestation of the god Xólotl, associated with life and death. The axolotl is not only a symbol of resilience and adaptation but also a biological treasure due to its potential for scientific research.
